Interactivity is a prevailing common denominator of all leading electronic media as we know them today.
At the same time, mainstream television, one of the most accomplished electronic media, is still passively watched like it was half a century ago. All recent attempts to turn TV into interactive media are about overlaying video imagery with user-controlled menus and scroll bars. This is a rather awkward way of interacting with an image.
Taking a completely different approach, which leverages machine-based understanding of the image content, SmarterTV introduces truly interactive television, offering for the first time in the TV history a live “clickable” video.
Moreover, this image understanding enabled SmarterTV to realize two additional value propositions: (i) unattended production of high-quality video coverage of live events, and (ii) highly reduced video-over-IP bandwidth needed to transmit such video.
